Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Valley Park Library is a diverse, welcoming group of dedicated people who volunteer their time in support of the Library, and its services and programs in the community. The group's support take many forms, and each Friend engages in activities that best fit their time and talents.

The group's purpose is to promote awareness about and advocate for the Library. Activities take place throughout the year, and any monies raised by the group go to supporting the Library.

What is a Friend of the Library?

Friends are people that are passionate about:

  • the library;
  • the services and resources it provides;
  • first amendment and civil rights which support the existence of free and public libraries;
  • events and programming held at the library;
  • books, movies, television and streaming shows available at the library;

What is the difference between being a patron and being a Friend of the Library?

Not much at all. A patron is someone who uses the materials and resources available at the library. Signing up to be a Friend of the Valley Park Library goes an additional step to show support for the library.

What does it cost to be a Friend of the Library?

The Friends of the Valley Park Library collect annual membership dues that go directly to supporting the library in a variety of ways. Annual memberships align with the fiscal year (July 1 thru June 30 of the next year).

2023-24 Memberships Rates are tiered by cost and benefits described below:

  • Friend: $0
    • Friends receive the monthly “Friends of the Valley Park Library” e-newsletter.
  • Affiliate: $25
    • Affiliates receive the monthly “Friends of the Valley Park Library” e-newsletter, and are specially recognized in the newsletter.
  • Advocate: $100
    • Advocates receive the monthly “Friends of the Valley Park Library” e-newsletter; are specially recognized in the newsletter; and are apprised of events and activities that might impact the future operations of the library, including legislative news that might impact library operations.
  • Sponsor: $500
    • Sponsors are businesses and generous individuals that receive all the benefits of Advocates.

How do I sign up?

You are invited to join! Sign up in-person or using the form below to become a Friend of the Valley Park Library. To sign up as an Affiliate/Founder/Advocate/Sponsor Friend of the Valley Park Library, please submit the appropriate membership dues in person to the library.
